                                 Community Culture,

The tradition that is still growing and expanding

The way we used to eat was reeling in me. Come join me as I reminisce and remember the auld lang syne that brought families and friendships even more compacted together. Here in the province of Quezon, there is an old custom where, instead of using cutlery, only the hands are used to extract and eat the food. To put it in perspective, this sort of tradition has been practiced by the people of the province for far too long. This is not absurd like what you think. According to historical books, the first record of eating with just bare hands dates back to the time when the Spaniards arrived in the Philippines or 1500's. After the arrival of the Spanish foreigners on the island of Legaspi until they reached our province, the use of silver spoons for fork gradually changed.
